It's a fair cop: I couldn't resist the Trekkie title. But it also implies gameplay that's a step beyond the usual Minesweeper goodness. I recently reviewed Mines in Space, which added extra twists on the concept itself, whereas MineField: TNG simply ramps up the minefield size and difficulty to an extreme. Wow. Yet another 'Mega game' hits the iPhone platform. To be fair, there's little in iFighter which hasn't been seen before in other vertical shoot 'em ups, but as ever it's the implementation on the iPhone which establishes this as a top title. From graphics to gameplay, from sound to scenery, iFighter just carries on impressing. If you like blasting things, get this without even pausing for breath. |

Ultimately, of course, there's very little that's unique about a collection of textual facts - as can be seen from the other 'Facts' applications in the iPhone App Store, many of which share the same font and (in some cases) the same facts. But Awesome Facts Pro was the first, is (arguably) the slickest, the most downloaded and has a delightfully obvious interface, which for me, at a dollar, makes it definitely the one to go for. |
